1000 Up

The accessibility module for Drupal has now been downloaded over 1000 times. Pretty meager figures but this may be because a) difficult to find, b) difficult to use or understand or c) ahead of its time. Please post comments below if you have tried the module and tell me your experiences.

There have been a few issues posted on Drupal.org the basis of the issues related to caching and the 'fake' creating of a role within the module. This cannot really be helped in my opinion and they affect modules that I haven't used. I haven't been on Drupal for a while, so I am not sure whether there are any new mobile related modules. I currently have no plans to upgrade the module for Drupal v6 or further develop the module for v5.

Having said that, the module works at least for me with v5 and I also use the module files on other domains hosted on the same web server as skiffie and it appears to work OK. As stated right from the beginning - this incorporates a very simple detection: it is not the be-all and end-all of device detection scripts. There have been a few modifications made to the module over the past six months, but nothing major.

For Drupal v6 I have created a mobile theme that essentially does the same thing as the actual module. To recap the features the theme can break down content into smaller chunks for XHTML MP supported devices. Headers are changed in the theme file and therefore caching etc. will probably not work. This is just a theme and selecting this theme requires alternative methods if you wish to use it other than plain selecting it as a theme. For example you could make it the default theme for .mobi site. The latest version of the theme files have recently been updated and can be found in the related links section on this page.

The themes have been download over 350 times so far. You can see screen-shots of the theme here. Please give me your feedback.
