The accessibility module for Drupal has now been downloaded over 1000 times. Pretty meager figures but this may be because a) difficult to find, b) difficult to use or understand or c) ahead of its time. Please post comments below if you have tried the module and tell me your experiences.
I recently installed Drupal v6 on my computers at home. I actually did multiple installs as I wanted to see how the installation would react with prior content and starting from scratch. It didn't take me long to realize that I am probably going to have to implement some groovy database scripts to import only relevant content to the new site when it goes live.
After a month or so testing this site in different browsers, it had become apparent that I had failed in my quest to get the correct site version displaying for Macintosh computers. Initially I had thought this was because the device detection script looked for 'PPC' which is in the user agent string for most Mac browsers. However, it appeared that I had over written this elsewhere in the module so there were still issues.
3 weeks of playing with Drupal v6 later here are a few thoughts of what I have seen so far. The overall appeal of Drupal is still there, though there are still the same inevitable hard-ships that make you wonder is this really worth all the hassle?. Please bear in mind that most of the development is geared towards the accessibility module and some of my gripes may not be that critical to others as it is to me.
Just over a year since my first look as Drupal v5, an article that I accidentally bumped to the front of the tracker pages due to content rendering issues, I decided yesterday to take a real look at Drupal v6. I downloaded the relevant files and the most relevant modules available and made a clean install. The amount of modules available at present is a bit disappointing however.
