skiFFie Making Drupal Mobile!

Development and updates to skiffie have been quite infrequent of late. The site has struggled a bit with the host migration that I thought initially had gone pretty smoothly.

That being said it now appears that almost everything is working as it should be, though there seem to be a few areas across my network that still need to be addressed: default PHP version for example. I know that all the scripts I have on site should be able to handle PHP5, but I haven't figured out in the control panel exactly what to do to correct this.

Elsewhere another site is using the accessibility module, namely Movie DataBase 4U! This is a new venture for me as it is really targeted at the mobile user. I launched the site on 1st of September and the traffic figures so far are encouraging. I intend to add more functionality very soon - I was working on this today. However there is basic content but since the site needs content I have been trying to add a movie review each day. I really need others to contribute though.

Movie DataBase 4U was born from the merging of two of my passions and an obvious lack of availability of a mobile site like this. The IMDB is the daddy of all movie web sites but there is no mobile version. Consider the following scenario:

You are in a shop flicking through the piles of DVDs wondering if you should by one. You want to know what other people think about the film or just more details about the flick - where can you get this information?

I don't think it will ever replace IMDB but with short and hopefully insightful reviews it should definitely serve a purpose. So why not visit the site now: Mobile Movie Database - movies on the go!.

Back to the accessibility module and a few people seem to be using it. It is unclear at the moment whether I will develop this module further or not. I think if basic device detection is in place then the themes for version 6 may do just as well. For more information see bluemobi theme guide. Enjoy.
