Drupal Development Status Update

The accessibility module has now been available officially for about 1.5 months now and the usage is not too great currently. I have found a couple of sites actually using the module, but installations are under 100. There are still no issues logged against the module on the Drupal site.

After my little vacation, I am back at work from tomorrow to try and bring the module up to version 6 compatibility. I have downloaded the dev release of Drupal and have it running on my own server. I now need to work out all the changes to the coding structure and try to figure out what the best ways to implement the accessibility module into the release are.

I also figured out a very simple trick to make the mobile sites a lot less text intensive. On the 227network, the mobile sites now display links to articles instead of teasers and links. This makes the site even quicker to download and should be slightly easier to understand - more similar to regular mobile sites.

Some of the changes I plan to implement with the next release are less hard-coded elements and even more customization options. I have been thinking about dropping WAP support completely too, but we will see whether that actually comes into effect.

Stay tuned for the latest developments right here, and if you are using the module, please post feed-back. I would love to know success or failure stories especially with regards to scalability of the site and ability to handle large quantities of users.
