Due to a hard disk crash, I downloaded the latest beta of Drupal and installed it in on my workstation as I wait for my laptop to be fixed. First impressions. Wow - looks really cool!
The new templates are really nice and some great customizations are available. As this was a vanilla install things went really smoothly with the installations.
The administrative options seem to have been really enhanced. Amongst the things that I really liked was the ability to make your own "content type". This, I think, will be really useful for the accessibility module. I can see the creation of mobile only content here without the dependencies on the taxomony_access module as with the current release.
Next steps are to re-write the accessibility module to work with Drupal v5 as there were a few changes to core functionality. Also it appears to be possible that the method that the module currently uses will be greatly improved in terms of efficiency.
After that, the upgrade from 4.7x to whatever version of 5 is the first stable release.
Good work by all the Drupal developers me thinks.
Keep it up.
