The start of August saw my hosting company, Vivid Hosting migrate all its sites to a new location. This has caused a few hiccups but essentially the transition was fairly smooth.
Vivid Hosting have migrated all accounts to a new location and aside from a few issues with PHP and the resulting down-time from the move the transition was a success. All of the sites on my network are working as expected and it is now 'business as usual'.
As my host does not automatically provide PHP5, I have to tweak my .htaccess files to allow Apache to handle that file extension correctly. I had previously commented out the line in .htaccess to do this as I made a server-wide change to treat this affect. Or so I thought. Their support team was very helpful and effective in rectifying the situation very promptly and the .php5 extension now works as expected. I also had to amend some of the folder permissions that seemed to have reverted to the default during the switch. However this was not a big task as I only have a couple of PHP writable directories on site.
Alls well that ends well. Now on to my latest project. This has been hampered slightly by the loss of functionality of my main PC (I have been cleaning it up a bit) and the switch of my laptop to the Ubuntu operating system. However, the laptop is working fine and the development work for my new project is on-going. Only trouble now is finding the time and inspiration to complete the task.. Stay tuned for more details.
