skiFFie Making Drupal Mobile!

All domains that I own are now hosted on Vivid Hosting servers. The transition seems to have been fairly painless as detailed in my previous post however there seem to be a few weird things happening generally.

The whole site went down yesterday for about 6 hours. No details have been given back to me as to why this happened, but they did acknowledge that there was an issue. This brought all my other domains down too. I was a bit upset but at least it is resolved now.

As the interest in this site grows, so does the amount of spam that I have been receiving in the comments area of the site. I currently allow open comments but have akismet monitoring them. It has caught perhaps 90% of the rubbish but if you have been on site recently you may have noticed many comments being deleted manually.

Further site updates to my children's sites will be done in the new year. I aim to make them in a similar vane to the main 227net.com site with the latest images of them taking center stage. skiFFie will also be updated with a new theme shortly - I have an idea for new layout, but you will have to wait and see if this plan actually comes to fruition.

I had a request asking about themes for mobile sites for Drupal version 6. There are currently no plans to upgrade to this release. The accessibility module has not been ported to this version yet. In fact, the site is currently a few versions down on the current version 5. I have not decided what the development plans are just yet. A lot depends on time available before I go back to Finland. Another factor is the demand for the product. Current download stats indicate that there have been less than 500 downloads of the module with the greatest demand being for v5. I am not sure how accurate this figure are. Perhaps by the lack of feedback and bugs these figures could be fairly accurate.
